I agree with Fred23 100%. When you have stores popping up like Zumiez and Pac Sun that just sell “cool” clothes this was inevitable. I remember when I first got in the game back in 94, when Muska was at Shorty’s and TSA, I had to go to the local skate shop and beg to get the Muskas in my size. And the dudes that worked there were also out skating that night, which made you not feel as bad for buying stuff from them since they would only order things that were worthy of use, not going to make their pockets fat.
I’m still going to order the Skytops as they come out just because they are a dope shoe and no one has them around me, but you have to understand something things have changed. You can thank the X-games, Mountain Dew and other mainstream media for making this into a business and help push it away from its roots.
